I don't know if this is the answer you're looking for but there are two ways you can lose heat to the environment. One is conduction - for example, jumping into a swimming pool on a hot day. The water is cool so it cools you off. The other way is convection. This is for example when you get out of a pool and the wind is blowing. That causes you to be cold. You're surrounded by warm air but the wind is causing it to feel cold (like a windchill during the winter). I ume that is what's going on there.
